The Philippine American Club Board of Directors has selected Gloria Canonizado for its 1998 Lifetime Service Award.  Recipients of the honor receive a plaque and lifetime membership for their significant and continuous contributions to the Phil Am Club.........

Flashback to the 1950s...... One of eight children, Gloria was born in San Antonio, Zambales.  A prominent family, the Canonizados include a Supreme Court Justice, Manila Mayor, famous authors and entertainers.

Gloria graduated from Quezon City High School, Philippine Normal College and later took graduate courses at De La Salle and the University of North Carolina.  For 13 years, Gloria was a full time star performer with the world famed Barangay Dance Troupe. As a star performer, Gloria traveled all over the world.  She was also a regular featured performer on Television and had appeared in movies such as Juan Tamad Goes to Congress, Apocalypse Now, and various other documentaries.

After migrating to the US in 1971, Gloria taught dance and Physical Education at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and East Carolina University.  She currently teaches in a Public School of Roberson County.

Gloria has been a very active member of the Philippine American Club since 1978.

 

Gloria is engaged to Paul Deegan of New York City and has a married daughter Mary Joe and a grandson.  Mary Jo and her family live at Fort Hood Texas

 

 

 

 

Yes sir, this was Kumander Goria, a.k. a.
